GRAND FORKS, N.D. – A record-setting performance by junior
Shyrone Kemp led the Minnesota State University Moorhead track and field teams at the University of North Dakota Open which was held on Saturday in Grand Forks, N.D. MSUM had six wins on the day.
The Dragon men finished ahead of Division I school UND in the team standings (60.5-45.0) and took second overall.
Kemp broke his own school record in the triple jump with an effort of 51-9 on Saturday. That broke his previous school record of 50-2 3/4 and is the second-best jump in Division II so far this season. Kemp ranks first in the NSIC in that event.
Junior
Ty Dawkins was second in the 60-meter dash at 6.87, which was an NCAA qualifying time, with
Shaquiel Higgs tied for third at 7.09. Dawkins added a second in the 200 in 21.94.
Senior
Chris Cook won the men's high jump with a season-best of 6-9.
Sophomore
Braxton Bruer won the men's mile in 4:22.84, winning by just .06 seconds. Sophokmore
Adnew Stueven was third in 4:24.57.
Sophomore
Ashley Hokanson won the women's pole vault at 12-1 3/4 which was an NCAA qualifying mark.
Sophomore
Payton Lane won the 3,000-meter run at 10:43.33.
Senior
Rachel Schumacher picked up her fourth high jump win of the indoor season with a jump of 5-5. Senior
Caitlin Pritchett tied for third at 5-1.
For the men, senior
Eric Gibbons was second in the 800 in 2:01.42. Freshman
Colby Larson was fourth in the men's heptathlon with 3,742 points which is the fourth-best score in the NSIC this season.
Junior
Ben Oie was fifth in the shot put at 47-6 1/2 while senior
Colton Cook was fifth in the weight throw at 48-6 3/4.
For the Dragon women, sophomore
Paige Ziegler was fourth in the 60-meter hurdles in 9.31. Freshman
Aislin Anderson was fifth in the mile in 5:27.97.
MSUM's next scheduled competition is at the Bison Open on Feb. 4-5.
