Results Through Day 2
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Strong performances from senior
Katelin Winter and freshman
Vasilina Shipilova led the Minnesota State University Moorhead women's swimming and diving team at Day 2 of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Championships. MSUM is in a solid fifth place after the first two days of competition with 131.5 points.
The event is being held at the Midco Aquatic Center in Sioux Falls, S.D. MSUM recorded four personal and seven season-bests.
Winter qualified for the 'A' final of the 200 free finished sixth in the finals in 1:53.16, which is a season-best. That time was just .24 seconds away from an NCAA 'B' cut. Winter finished tied for fourth in the 200 IM on Wednesday and now has two top six finishes on the week.
Shipilova won the 'B' final of the 400 IM with a season-best time of 4:37.31.
Freshman
Brenda Mendes qualified for the 'B' final in the 100 butterfly, and swam a season-best of 58.37 in the finals to finish in 14th.
MSUM's 400 medley 'A' relay was seventh in 3:55.58. That consisted of
Demi-Lee Carlisle, Shipilova, Winter and senior
Lexie Bray. Carlisle's 100 back split of 27.84 was a personal-best while senior
Kate MacGregor swam a season best of 28.31 as part of MSUM's 'B' relay in her 100 back split.
