WEST FARGO, N.D. – Minnesota State Moorhead saw numerous personal bests set on day three of the NSIC Swimming & Diving Championships. After 15 events, the Dragons sit in seventh place with 252 points.
To begin the morning session, Moorhead would see both
Anika Grunenwald and
Claire Schlaefer set personal bests in the 500-yard freestyle. Grunenwald clocked a 5:27.88 while Schlaefer marked a 5:41.70.
Kelsey Jackson would turn in a 58.83 in the preliminary of the 100-yard backstroke, qualifying for the B-final. Jackson would place fifth in the evening's final, clocking an improved time of 58.55. Also in preliminary action,
Adrianna Sullivan would register a new personal best of 1:02.42.
In the 100-yard breaststroke preliminaries,
Rose Urick would qualify for the B-final behind a season best time of 1:06.66. The time was just over .20 seconds off Urick's personal best. Urick would improve on that time in the final, swimming a 1:06.58 to finish fifth.
Sarah Coe (1:15.72) and
Haley Stainbrook (1:16.75) would each set new personal bests in the same event preliminaries.
To wrap up the morning swims,
Fernanda Leon would secure a spot in the championship final of the 200-yard fly. Leon would place fourth overall in the preliminary, marking a 2:08.38. The sophomore would place fourth in the championship final behind a time of 2:07.75.
Cami Mayo would earn a spot in the B-final of the same event behind a personal best time of 2:15.57. Mayo would reset that personal best in the finals session, swimming a 2:13.58 to finish fourth.
The Dragon 200-yard freestyle relay team of Sullivan, Stark, Grunenwald and
Joanna Phillips would place seventh in the B-final with a season best effort of 1:41.68.
The NSIC Swimming & Diving Championships concludes tomorrow with preliminary swims beginning at 10 a.m.
