BROOKINGS, S.D. – Wins by sophomore pole vaulter
Ashley Hokanson and senior high jumper
Chris Cook led the way for the Minnesota State University Moorhead track and field teams at the South Dakota State Indoor Classic on Saturday in Brookings, S.D.
Hokanson tied for the win in the women's pole vault with a personal-best of 12-9 1/2 which is tied for 17
th-best in the nation and best in the NSIC this season.
Senior
Chris Cook won the high jump at 6-8 3/4 while junior Shyrome Kemp was second at 6-8 3/4. Cook is tied for 13th in the nation in the high jump as is Kemp.
Junior
Ty Dawkins was second in the 400 in 48.02, which was an NCAA qualifying time, a personal-best time and is ninth-best in the nation as of this writing. It is best in the NSIC as well.
MSUM's 4x400 relay was third in 3:18.71, with Dawkins, sophomore
Ibrahim Oduong, freshman
Elliott MacLennan and sophomore
Travis Joseph teaming for that time.
Senior
Rachel Schumacher tied for second in the high jump with an effort of 5-5. Junior
Robynn Curry was third in the 400 in 57.15, third-best time in the NSIC this season.
Senior
Nadir Yusuf posted an NCAA qualifying time in the 5,000 meters at the Iowa State Classic on Friday, despite having a fall at 2,900 meters. He finished with a time of 14:25.95 to place 17th among a field featuring several Division I runners. Adjusted for track size, that time is best in the NSIC this season.
Sophomore
Payton Lane won the women's 5,000-meter run at the College of St. Benedict/St. John's Invitational on Saturday. Lane's time was 18:22.91. Freshman
Grace Dorsher was third at 19:53.
MSUM is scheduled to compete at the UND Tuneup and SDSU Last Chance Meet on Feb. 19.
