FARGO, N.D. – The Minnesota State University Moorhead women's tennis team dropped a tough 4-3 decision to Minnesota Duluth in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference action Saturday at Courts Plus in Fargo, N.D.
MSUM fell to 0-4 overall and 0-3 in the NSIC with the loss while UMD improved to 2-4 overall and 2-3 in the NSIC.
MSUM lost the team doubles point despite a win from senior

Tia Dykema at No. 2. Those two teamed up for a 6-4 win over Abby Johnson and Laura Palmer at No. 2 doubles, but UMD won at No. 1 and No. 3 to take the valuable team point.
Four singles matches went three sets, and UMD prevailed in three of them, including at the No. 1, No. 3 and No. 6 slots.
Mikaela Griechen won at No. 2 singles for MSUM, defeating Isabel Resler 6-1, 6-2.
Dykema beat Laura Palmer, 6-4, 6-3 at No. 4 singles for the Dragons while sophomore
Madison Bell topped Amanda Hanowski, 4-6, 7-5, 6-2 at No. 5.
"We had our chances today," MSUM head coach
Jason Thiner said. "We lost 3-of-4 three setters in singles, two of which we won the first set. We'll look to rebound against St. Cloud State."
MSUM hosts St. Cloud State at 9 a.m. on Sunday.
