FARGO, N D. – The Minnesota State University Moorhead women's tennis team won the doubles point, but St. Cloud State prevailed in 4-of-6 singles matches to earn a 4-3 win over the Dragons in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference action Sunday at Courts Plus in Fargo.
MSUM fell to 0-5 overall and 0-4 in the NSIC with the loss. SCSU is now 3-3 overall and 3-2 in the NSIC. Three of MSUM's four NSIC losses have come by one point.
The Dragons won at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles. Seniors

Miranda Griechen picked up a 6-3 win at No. 1 for MSUM while senior
Mikaela Griechen and freshman
Tia Dykema prevailed by the same score at No. 2.
The Dragons won at first and second singles but lost all four matches from slots three through six.
Andersen topped Arisa Kashima, 7-6, 7-5 at No. 1 singles for a Dragon win while
Mikaela Griechen topped Maria Paz Aoki, 6-3, 6-4 at No. 2.
":We rebounded and competed well but came up just short against the Huskies," MSUM head coach
Jason Thiner said. "The doubles teams of
Emma Andersen and Miranda Greichen and Mikaela Greichen and
Tia Dykema played well to get us started with the doubles point. Andersen and Mikaela Greichen played well in singles to get the lone singles wins."
MSUM is back in action next Frida yand Saturday with a pair of NSIC matches. The Dragons will play at Sioux Falls at 6 p.m. on Friday and at Augustana at 6 p.m. on Saturday.
