ROSEMONT, Ill. – The Minnesota State University Moorhead softball team went 1-2 over the final three games of the Rosemont Dome Tournament, which concluded on Saturday in Rosemont, Ill.
MSUM (2-6) lost to Wayne State (Mich.) 7-5 on Friday (recap will be added when stats are available), but came back to beat Hillsdale 6-3 on Saturday before falling to Lewis 8-0 in five innings. The Dragons finished the tournament, which included a loss to No. 9 Grand Valley State on Thursday, with a 1-3 mark overall.
Against Hillsdale, sophomore designated player
Evey Evans was 1-for-2 with two RBI while senior first baseman
Jordey Smith was 2-for-4. Freshman shortstop
Annika Norman was 1-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored. Junior left fielder
Kiley Washnieski was 1-for-2 with a run scored. Freshman second baseman Eliyah McCarty was 1-for-4.
Senior
Anna Lang picked up the win, going four innings and allowing two earned runs. Evans picked up the save, allowing no earned runs in three innings.
Against Lewis, MSUM fell behind 8-0 after the first inning and never recovered.
McCarthy went 2-for-2 for MSUM while freshman right fielder
Avery Steffen was 1-for-2 with a double.
Sophomore
Reece Dahl took the loss for MSUM, giving up four earned runs. She walked three. Freshman
Emma Abbott allowd four runs, one earned, in one inning while Lang pitched three scoreless innings.
MSUM is off until March 15 when it plays at McKendree.
