MSUM Women Entertain Golden Eagles and Beavers in NSIC Contests

The Minnesota State University Moorhead women's basketball team will return to the Nemzek Fieldhouse this week to host Minnesota Crookston on Friday at 5:30 p.m. and Bemidji State on Saturday at 3:30 p.m.

MSUM will play three of its final four games at home.

MSUM lost at Bemidji State, 69-68 in December and beat Minnesota Crookston, 75-62. MSUM leads the series with Bemidji State 71-42; the winner of Saturday's game will be in possession of the Century Trophy, which goes to the winner of the second meeting of the season.

The Dragons lead the series with UMC 31-7 and has won eight straight meetings in the series.

The Dragons are 6-12 on the season and 5-9 in the NSIC after losing at Minnesota Duluth and No. 18 St. Cloud State last week.

Junior forward Peyton Boom leads the team in points per game with 14.9. Boom also leads the team in rebounds per game with 6.6, followed closely by junior Natalie Steichen with 5.7 rebounds per game. Steichen also leads the team in assists per game with 3.8. Karla Nelson is in her 22nd season as head coach at Minnesota State University Moorhead.

About Minnesota Crookston

The Golden Eagles are 2-17 on the season and 1-12 in the NSIC after losing to UMary and defeating Minot State last week. Senior Kylie Post leads the team in points per game with 10.9, followed closely by freshman Abi Fraaza with 10.6 points per game. Junior Bren Fox leads the team in rebounds per game with 5.8, followed closely Abi Fraaza with 5.6 rebounds per game. Mike Roysland is in his 16th season as head coach at Minnesota Crookston.

About Bemidji State

The Beavers are 13-8 on the season and 11-6 in the NSIC after defeating Minot State and UMary last weekend at home. Sophomore Rachel Heittola leads the team in points per game with 16.1, followed by Senior Trinity Yoder with 13.3 point per game. Rachel Heittola also leads the team in rebounds per game with 7.5. Trinity Yoder leads the team in assist per game with 5.3. Chelsea DeVille is in her seventh season as head coach at Bemidji State.
