ASUZA, Calif. – Minnesota State University Moorhead junior
Shyrone Kemp set a new school record in the triple jump to lead the way for the Minnesota State University Moorhead track and field teams at the final day of the Bryan Clay Invitational in Asuza, Calif.
Kemp won the triple jump with a school-record mark of 51-8 1/4, which is an NCAA qualifying jump. That mark is second best in Division II as of Friday. He broke a school record that was set by Rod McClendon in 1981.
MSUM's 4x400 relay was fourth in 3:13.41 which is an NCAA qualifying time. That consisted of freshman
Elliott MacLennan, sophomore
Ibrahim Oduong,sophomore
Travis Joseph and junior
Ty Dawkins. That is the ninth-best time in Division II.
Senior
Chris Cook recorded a season-best jump of 6-11 in the high jump which is an NCAA qualifying jump, placing him third. That is tied for fifth-best in the nation this season and is the best jump in the NSIC.
Junior
Robynn Curry ran a time of 55.38 in the women's 400 and finished 14th ahead of several Division I runners. That time is an NCAA qualifying time and second-fastest in the NSIC this season.
Sophomore
Ashley Hokanson was second in the women's pole vault at 12-11 3/4 which is an NCAA qualifying jump and personal best.
Senior
Rachel Schumacher recorded a jump of 5-4 1/4 to finish 13th while junior
Caitlin Pritchett recorded a jump of 5-2 1/4.
Oduong ran a personal-best time of 48.17 in the men's 400 while junior
Ty Dawkins ran a 48.40.
The Dragons will have several athletes compete at the Long Beach Invitational on Saturday.
