BISMARCK, N.D. – The Minnesota State University Moorhead track and field teams picked up eight wins at the Al Bortke Open hosted by the University of Mary Saturday in Bismarck, N.D. Senior
Chris Cook and junior
Shyrone Kemp recorded NCAA qualifying performances in the high jump for the Dragons.
Cook won the high jump with an NCAA qualifying height of 6-10 3/4, which was a season-best and tied for ninth-best in the nation. Kemp also recorded an NCAA qualifying height of 6-8 3/4 to finish second. Cook also was third in the triple jump at 43-9.
Junior
Ty Dawkins topped freshman teammate
Elliott MacLennan for the win in the 200-meter dash. Dawkins won in 21.60 while MacLennan's second-place time was 21.81.
Senior
Nadir Yusuf won the 1,500 in 3:57.42 with sophomore
Adnew Stueven taking second in 3:58.30.
MSUM's 4x100 relay, consisting of junior
Shaquiel Higgs, Dawkins, MacLennan and Kemp, won in 41.61. MSUM also won the 4x400 in 3:21.10 with junior
Kendrick Major, sophomore
Braxton Bruer, freshman
Jerome Crayton and junior
Kory Powell-Oliver teaming up for that win.
Sophomore
Ibrahim Oduong was second in the 400 in 49.33 with
Braxton Bruer third in 50.24.
Junior
Robynn Curry won the 400 meters in 55.99 which was just .01 seconds from an NCAA qualifying time.
Sophomore
Aislin Anderson won the 1,500 in 4:55.40 with sophomore
Payton Lane taking third in 5:05.14 and freshman
Grace Dorsher fourth in 5:09.07.
Senior
Rachel Schumacher won the high jump at 5-3 with
Caitlin Pritchett taking second at 5-1.
MSUM will send several athletes to meets in California next week.
