Day 1 Results
ABERDEEN, S.D. – Seniors

Nadir Yusuf and sophomore
Ashley Hokanson won individual titles to lead the Minnesota State University Moorhead track and field teams at Day 1 of the NSIC Championships, which are being held in Aberdeen, S.D. The MSUM men are in second place, just a half point behind Wayne State heading into the final day of competition.
The meet was held in the gusty wind at Aberdeen with several field events moved indoors.
Cook jumped a season-best 6-11 1/2 to win the men's high jump for his fourth NSIC title of his career. That jump is tied for ninth-best in the nation so far. Junior
Shyrone Kemp was third at 6-9 which earned him All-NSIC honors. Sophomore
Travis Joseph was fifth at 6-5.
Yusuf picked up the seventh NSIC track title of his career with a victory in the men's 10,000-meter run. His winning time was 31.26.47. Yusuf is ranked 10th in the nation in that event.
Hokanson won the women's pole vault with a personal-best of 13-3. That jump is tied for 14
th-best in the nation this season. It is Hokanson's first career NSIC title.
Sophomore
Adnew Stueven was second in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 9:19.82 which earned him All-NSIC honors.
Senior
Rachel Schumacher was third in the women's high jump at 5-6 which earned her All-NSIC honors for the seventh time.
Kemp was fourth in the long jump at 24-1 1/2 while sophomore
Payton Lane was sixth in the 10,000 meters in 37:42.03.
Prelims
Junior
Robynn Curry qualified for the finals in the women's 400 after running the second best time in 56.79.
Sophomore
Ibrahim Oduong ran the fastest time in the men's 400 prelims in 48.13 while
Ty Dawkins was second in 48.41.
Elliott MacLennan was fifth in 49.15, giving the Dragons three athletes in the finals of that event on Saturday.
Sophomore
Braxton Bruer ran the fastest time in the 800-meter prelims in 1:53.74.
The final day of competition is set for Saturday.
