Dawkins Leads Way as Dragon Men Win 4 More NSIC Outdoor Titles, Finish 3rd; Women Finish 7th

ABERDEEN, S.D. – Led by a big day from junior Ty Dawkins, the Minnesota State University Moorhead men's track and field team picked up four more wins at the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Championships on Saturday in Aberdeen, S.D. The MSUM men finished third while the women finished seventh.

Dawkins won two events, was part of the winning 4x400 relay and was part of the runner-up 4x100 relay to cap off a huge day.  Dawkins won the men's 200-meter dash in 21.48, just .07 seconds away from his personal best.

MSUM went 1-2-3 in the 400-meter run, led by Dawkins, who was the winner in 48.46. Sophomore Ibrahim Oduong was second in 48.47 and freshman Elliott MacLennan was third in 49.38. All three Dragons earned All-NSIC Honors.

The MSUM men's 4x400 relay won in 3:15.95. That consisted of Dawkins, sophomore Joseph, MacLennan and Oduong.

Junior Shyrone Kemp won the men's triple jump with a jump of 49-2 1/2. He now has six career NSIC titles.

Senior Nadir Yusuf was second in the 5,000-meter run in 14:49.98 to earn his second All-NSIC honor of the week.

MSUM's 4x100 relay, consisting of Dawkins, junior Shaquiel Higgs, Kemp and MacLennan, was second in 41.34 to earn All-NSIC honors.

Junior Robynn Curry was second in the women's 400 meters to earn All-NSIC honors. Her runner-up time was 56.14. Curry also scored in the 200-meter dash, taking seventh in 25.52.
 
Sophomore Braxton Bruer earned All-NSIC honors in the 800 meters, taking third in 1:52.47.

Senior Chris Cook was fourth in the triple jump at 47-7.

Senior Steena Larsen capped off her Dragon career with a good day in the discus, taking fifth with a toss of 151-0, which was a school record and surpassed her personal best by nearly 11 feet.
 
Senior Josie Glaser and Larsen placed seventh and eighth, respectively, in the women's javelin. Glaser had a throw of 127-10 while Larsen threw a 126-11, a personal-best.
 
MSUM will learn on Tuesday which athletes will qualify for nationals.
