ALLENDALE, Mich. – Minnesota State University Moorhead junior Shryone Kemp finished third in the triple jump at the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Saturday in Allendale, Mich. Sophomore
Ashley Hokanson finished 10
th in the women's pole vault to earn All-American second-team honors.
The top three finish earned Kemp All-American first-team honors for a third time.
Kemp jumped 51-8 1/4 – tying the school record he set earlier this season at the Bryan Clay Invitational to finish in third. He entered the week ranked fourth in the event. Kemp recorded the 51-8 ¼
Kemp is now a three-time All-American in the triple jump, including his national runner-up finish indoors in March. He has five NSIC titles in the event and holds school records indoor and outdoors.
Hokanson, competing at nationals for the first time, finished in 10th with a vault of 13-3 ½. Her personal-best was 13-5 achieved at the NSIC Outdoor Championships earlier this month, where she won the event.
Hokanson had three attempts at 13-7 1/4 but was unable to clear that height.
The Dragons finished with one All-American first-team honoree (Kemp) and two All-American second-team honorees (
Nadir Yusuf and Hokanson) on the week.
