MOORHEAD – Minnesota State University Moorhead women's tennis coach Jason Thiner has announced the addition of Marissa Burian of Fargo, N.D., and Claire Nemmers of Fairmont, Minn.

Burian was a five-year letterwinner at Fargo Davies High School, which won the North Dakota State Championship in May. She was an all-state selection and All-Eastern Dakota Conference selection in 2022 and a two-time team captain.

"Marissa played No. 3 singles for Fargo Davies, the North Dakota state champions of 2022," Thiner said. "She also finished third in the state singles tournament losing only to eventual state champion and future Dragon Tiannah Gu."

Nemmers was a six-year letterwinner at Fairmont High School. She finished 17-8 in singles as a senior, helping the Cardinals to a fourth-place finish at the state tournament. She was four-time all-conferene and a three-time team captain.

"Claire played No. 1 singles for the team that finished fourth at the state tournament in Minnesota," Thiner said. "We're very excited to have someone who was a leader on such a good team."

Burian and Nemmers join Mimi Gu of West Fargo, N.D., as recruits for 2022-23. Gu recently won the North Dakota State singles state championship for a second straight year. She is a five-time all-state selection.
