BEMDJI, Minn. — the Minnesota State University Moorhead women's soccer team battled tough against Bemidji State on Sunday before falling to the Beavers, 1-0 in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play Sunday in Bemidji, Minn.
MSUM fell to 1-2 overall and 1-1 in the NSIC with the loss while Bemidji State, which was picked to finish second in the NSIC preseason poll, improved to 3-1-1 overall and 2-0 in the league.
"We played really tough against a strong opponent," MSUM head coach Christie Kopietz said. "We're thrilled with the effort and focus."
Junior goalkeeper Simone Lewald had nine saves for the Dragons.
Junior midfielder Madeline Etter had two shots to lead the Dragons while junior forward Tabea Czech and senior forward Ava Kieser had shots for the Dragons.
MSUM will play its first regular-season home game on Friday against Augustana. The game is at 4 p.m. at the MSUM Soccer Field.
