Dragon Women's Soccer Battles Tough in 4-3 Loss to Augustana

MOORHEAD, Minn. — The Minnesota State University Moorhead women's soccer team battled tough against Augustana on Friday before falling to the Vikings, 4-3 in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference action in Moorhead.

MSUM fell to 1-3 overall and 1-2 in the NSIC with the loss while Augustana improved to 2-3-1 overall and 2-1 in the league.

The Dragons battled tough against the Vikings after facing a 2-0 halftime deficit. Freshman Jensen Seidel got the Dragons on the board with an assist from Madeline Etter to bring MSUM within 2-1 at the 49:15 mark.

Augustana scored again to make it 3-1, but senior forward Ava Kieser scored on a penalty kick to bring the Dragons within 3-2 at the 64:17 mark of the first half.

Ellie Schock scored a goal at the 64:17 mark to put the Vikings up 3-2, but freshman Kylie Autrey added a goal at the 82:40 mark to bring the Dragons within 4-3. Morgan Bachelor assisted on that goal.'

"The fight we displayed to come back again and again is just tremendous," MSUM head coach Christie Kopietz said.

The Dragons were unable to get the tying goal in the back of the net and fell one goal short.

Freshman goalkeeper Quinn Carter had a career-high 12 saves for MSUM, which hosts Wayne State on Sunday at noon for Parents Day.
