MSUM Women's Soccer Battles to 2-2 Tie With Wildcats

MOORHEAD — The Minnesota State University Moorhead women's soccer team battled to a 2-2 tie with Wayne State (Neb.) in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference action Sunday in Moorhead, Minn.

MSUM is now 1-3-1 overall and 1-2-1 in the NSIC while Wayne State is 0-5-2 overall and 0-3-1 in the NSIC.

"We're happy to have scored five goals on the weekend and to have picked up a point," MSUM head coach Christie Kopietz said. "Sundays are always tough when you expend a lot of energy on Friday."

Senior forward Mckenzie Ickert and freshman Jensen Seidel had goals for MSUM. Lilly Johnson added an assist.

Junior goalkeeper Simone Lewald had nine saves for MSUM.

Wayne State scored first but MSUM answered less than a minute later when Ickert scored her first goal of the season.

Seidel scored her second goal of the season at the 15:55 mark with an assist from Johnson to put MSU up 2-1, Wayne State would tie the game at 2-2 at the 28:53 mark and there would be no more scoring from there.

MSUM will play at Minnesota State-Mankato on Friday as part of a road weekend.
