DULUTH, Minn. — The Minnesota State University Moorhead volleyball team was swept by No. 10 Minnesota Duluth, 25-15, 25-14, 25-12 in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference action Friday night in Duluth.
MSUM fell to 5-6 overall and 2-1 in the NSIC with the loss while UMD improved to 11-0 overall and 3-0 in the league.
Junior middle blocker Tori Thompson and junior outside hitter Bridget Witzmann had five kills each to lead MSUM while freshman setter Emily Skalicky had 11 assists.
Freshman libero Macie Wiemann had 18 digs while sophomore outside hitter Jadyn Feist had seven. Feist had two solo blocks and one assist.
MSUM hit just .038 for the match compared to .336 for the Bulldogs.
MSUM was down 7-2 in the first set but scored four in a row, which included kills from Feist and Witzmann, to cut the lead to 7-6. The Dragons were within 16-14 but UMD scored nine of the next 10 points to earn a 25-15 win. From there, the Bulldogs rolled to two more set wins.
MSUM is at No. 7 St. Cloud State on Saturday at 2 p.m.
