WINONA, Minn. – MSUM would utilize 29 bench points and a hot shooting first half to bounce back in their final cross-divisional game against Winona State. The Dragons slammed the Warriors 88-59.
The Dragons busted out the offensive firepower on the Warriors early. A night removed from a loss from Upper Iowa, MSUM played with purpose in the first half against Winona State.
Jaden Stanley-Williams dropped nine points in the first half along with nine points from
Lorenzo McGhee.
Through one half,
Gavin Baumgartner had scored eight points and collected six rebounds. The most impressive facet was MSUM's field goal percentage as the Dragons shot a scintillating 53.3 percent from the field through 20 minutes. This included eight made three-pointers at a 53.3 percent clip as well. Winona State on the other hand was held to just 37.1 percent shooting in the first half. The Dragons held a 13-point lead, 45-32 at halftime.
MSUM's defense would show up in the second half, stifling the Warriors to just 34.4 percent shooting and six turnovers. The Dragons would score 12 points off those turnovers.
MSUM's bench played a pivotal role in the game, scoring 29 points in the game with
Trever Kaiser,
Gabe Myren and
Jordan Johnson combining for 23 of those bench points for the Dragons.
The Dragons would shoot 46.8 percent for the game as they would outscore Winona State 43-25 in the second half. That would propel them to a convincing 88-59 win.
