WAYNE, Neb. –
Izabela Flores knocked in a header in the 87th minute to help equalize MSU Moorhead with Wayne State College on Sunday afternoon. The squads each earned one conference point with a 1-1 tie.
The Wildcats would begin the first half with an aggressive offensive attack. Wayne State got off seven shots in the first 21 minutes of the contest with two making it on goal. The latter of the two found its way past
Simone Lewald off the foot of Reagan Allen. In that same span, MSUM would manage three shots with none making it on goal.
By half's end, Wayne State would bring their shot total to 13 with four on goal. The Dragons would not have another shot the remainder of the half. Through 45 minutes, Wayne State led 1-0.
Brooklyn Broderick,
Madeline Etter and
Ava Kieser all had shots for the Dragons in the frame. Broderick and Kieser's shots were blocked while Etter's missed high.
Wayne State would continue to pepper in shots during the second half while keeping the Dragon offense at bay. The Wildcats would put an additional five shots on goal in the half, but
Simone Lewald would stop them all to keep the margin at one goal.
The Wildcat defense would not allow a single Dragon shot in the frame until the 87
th minute. Wayne State would pick up a yellow card just outside of the box, leading to a Dragon free kick.
Tabea Czech would take the kick and boot a ball into the box that connected with the head of
Izabela Flores. The ball shot to the lower left side of the net and past Wildcat keeper Hayden Wallace. The header would equalize the match late in the contest as neither team would get a shot off in the final two minutes.
