About the Dragons

The Dragons (2-6-4, 1-3-4 NSIC), are coming off of a 2-0 victory in their last contest against the Golden Eagles of Minnesota Crookston. They will look to continue their winning ways against the Bulldogs and Huskies. In their battle with the Golden Eagles, senior midfielder Tabea Czech struck first with a goal that came on a free kick in the 14th minute. Then, later on in the match, senior midfielder Ava Kieser scored on a penalty goal in the 86th minute. Kieser also played most of the minutes, only coming out for three minutes of game time. The Dragons tallied more shots on goal than the Golden Eagles with a 13-5 mark. Sophomore forward Blayke Hurley had three of those shots on goal during the match, although none found their way past the Golden Eagle goalkeeper. The defense was stout all game as they held the Golden Eagles scoreless. Defenders Mason Kimble and Sara Alfrida Munk Nielsen played all 90 minutes for the Dragons. Senior goalkeeper Simone Lewald made five saves on the day.

On the season, the Dragons average 0.67 goals and 8.8 shots per game. Junior forward Brooklyn Broderick and sophomore forward Jensen Seidel are tied for the team lead in shots on goal with nine apiece. On the season so far, the Dragons have scored eight goals, scored by eight different players. This makes it tough on opponents because the Dragons can strike from anywhere and anytime. Senior defender Morgan Bachelor has been on a run of form recently as she never takes a minute off and gives her all for her team from her spot on the back line of defense. Lewald has been fantastic in the net for the Dragons, making 65 saves for the Dragons, with a .878 save percentage on the year.

The Dragons are led by eighth-year head coach Christie Kopietz.

The Bulldogs (3-5-4, 2-3-3 NSIC), won their last game against the Beavers of Minot State in a 1-0 battle. The difference was a penalty kick goal in the 26th minute by sophomore midfielder Miriam Marsan. They were held scoreless for the rest of the game. In total they tallied nine shots, four of which were on goal. Senior goalkeeper Jennifer Norris played a huge role in the Bulldog victory, making 10 crucial saves and holding the Beavers scoreless. Senior defender Rachel Boelke had a couple of shots in the game, one of which was on goal. She also didn't come out of the game, playing the full 90 minutes for her squad.

The Bulldogs average 1.33 goals per match, while allowing 1.5 goals per match to their opponents. They average 12.4 shots per game. The Bulldogs have assisted on 12 of their 16 goals so far this season. On the year, junior forward Anna Tobias is leading the Bulldogs in goals with five. The Huskies (9-2-1, 6-1-1 NSIC), collected a pair of conference wins last weekend. The first of which came against Minot State 1-0. Then they had a big second half to come back and beat the Marauders of UMary 2-. Against the Beavers of Minot State, freshman forward Linsey Trapino scored the game winning goal in the 76th minute. This game was a defensive slugfest, with the Huskies holding the Beavers to zero shots on goal in the game, while only having three shots on goal themselves. The Huskies were able to earn a lot of corner kicks in the match with six, while allowing none on the defensive end of the field.

In their contest against the Marauders, UMary jumped out to a 1-0 lead at halftime. However, in the second half the Huskies showed why they are one of the best teams in the NSIC by scoring two goals. The first of which was scored in the 52nd minute by sophomore midfielder Brooke Quam, she was assisted by Trapino and junior defender Rheana Zerna. Then, with under six minutes to go in the match, Trapino put the game winner in the back of the net with the assist coming from sophomore defender Ellie Primerano. Freshman goalkeeper Jaylee Strickland had five saves in the match.

The Huskies are coached by Gretta Macdonald.
