About the Dragons

The Dragons (1-5-4, 0-2-4 NSIC), come into this week after tying both of their matches last week. Their first match saw them draw against the Cougars of Sioux Falls 0-0. In that match the Dragons had more shots on goals than the Cougars, out shooting them 6-5, but just couldn't manage to find the back of the net. Dragons athlete of the month, Simone Lewald, made all five saves keeping the game a scoreless tie. Junior forward Brooklyn Broderick, and senior midfielder Madeline Etter each had two shots on goal.

In their battle with the Wildcats of Wayne State, the Dragons fought back to earn a 1-1 draw. Izabela Flores scored the game tying goal in the 88th minute, on an assist from Tabea Czech. The Dragons were out shot 4-20 by the Wildcats, but another outstanding performance from Simone Lewald held the Wildcats to just one goal. Lewald finished the game with eight saves.

On the season, sophomore forward Jensen Seidel leads the team in shots on goal with nine. Broderick is second in this category with seven. Czech and senior midfielder Ava Kieser each have two assists on the season. Junior defender Sara Alfrida Munk Nielsen continues to play all of the minutes this season, and senior midfielder Jessica Carlson has played a significant role as well, putting in 679 minutes for her squad. The Dragons average 7.9 shots per game.

The Dragons are coached by Christie Kopietz.

Scouting Bemidji State

The Beavers (6-0-3, 4-0-1 NSIC), come into this week not having lost a game. They are no doubt one of the best teams in the NSIC. They will be a tough challenge for the Dragons. Last weekend they went 1-0-1, tying Southwest Minnesota State University 1-1 in a game that saw a 2.5 hour lightning delay that forced the game to be finished on Saturday. Even with their schedule being interrupted, they came back to beat Winona State 2-1 the next day. The Beavers are tied for third in the NSIC standings, only one point behind Minnesota State University Mankato and Northern State University. They average 2.1 goals per game, and hold their opponents to only 0.4 goals per game. Their top goal scorer is sophomore forward Katrina Barthelt, who has scored six goals on the season to go along with two assists. Their goalkeeper is junior Edie Frantzen who has made 20 saves on the season, for a .833 save percentage.

The Beavers are coached by Jim Stone.

Scouting University of Minnesota Crookston

The Golden Eagles (0-9, 0-5 NSIC), will host the Dragons hoping for their first win of the season. They dropped games last weekend to the Warriors of Winona State 4-0, and the Mustangs of Southwest Minnesota State University 2-0. On average opponents score 4.2 goals per game, while Crookston only averages 0.2 goals per game. They will look to find a rhythm against the Dragons on offense and defense. Junior forward Brooklyn Fischbach has scored a team-leading two goals on the year and she has played 562 minutes on the year. The goalkeeper for the Golden Eagles is senior goalkeeper Abby Olsen, who has played the majority of the minutes in the net for her squad. She has amassed 82 saves on the season, and a .719 save percentage.

The Golden Eagles are coached by Neil Mancktelow.
