MSUM Earns Sunday Split to Close Fall Schedule

MOORHEAD, Minn. – MSU Moorhead concluded its fall season by splitting a pair of duals with Concordia College and the University of Mary. The Dragons defeated the Cobbers to open the day before falling to the Marauders. 
 
MSUM would open the morning with a 6-3 dual victory over host Concordia College. The Dragons claimed a pair of doubles wins and four singles victories. Tiannah Gu and Madison Bell would pick up a doubles point with an 8-1 victory. Shaelyn Johnson and Clarie Nemmers would claim their third doubles victory of the season with an 8-2 win. 
 
In singles play, Tiannah Gu grabbed her first singles win of the season with a straight sets win over Concordia's Mary Skorich. Madison Bell would earn her first singles win of the season with a three-set battle with Anna Hacker. Bell fell in the first set 7-6 with a 7-2 tiebreaker before claiming set two 6-3 followed by a contentious 12-10 win in the final set. 
 
Katryna Hansen would also find herself entrenched in a fight in single action. Hansen fell in the first set before rallying back for a 6-1 set win and a 13-11 victory in the final set. Kiera Radniecki would collect her first career collegiate singles victory with a 6-4, 6-2 straight sets win over Annalise Skrade.

In the final dual of the day for MSUM, Mary would command both singles and doubles play en route to a 7-0 win. The Marauders would take two of three doubles matches to earn the team doubles point. Katryna Hansen and Kiera Radniecki would team up for the first time and take home a win over Mary's Emily Needham and Luba Moyo. The pairing was the lone Dragon win during doubles play with a 6-4 victory. 

While Shaelyn Johnson would battle in a three set match with Chloe Chong, MSUM would be unable to pick up any singles wins over the Marauders. Johnson dropped the first set 7-5 before coming back and taking set two 6-4. Chong would solidify the win with a 10-8 win in the final set.

MSUM has now concluded its fall schedule and will look towards their championship season beginning in February. The Dragons will host Concordia College on Sunday, February 4 at Courts Plus in Fargo to open that slate.
