MOORHEAD, Minn. -- MSU Moorhead volleyball fell at home to 14th-ranked Minnesota Duluth on Friday evening. The contest was MSUM's second-to-last match of the 2023 season.
Minnesota Duluth would come out in the first set and hit an efficient .355 on the Dragons. That efficiency, coupled with eight Dragon attack errors put MSUM in a hole throughout the set. The Bulldog defense was also stingy, tallying four blocks as a team in the first set. MSUM would tie the match up twice in the early going, but Minnesota Duluth would continue to push forward, winning the first frame 25-15.Â
MSUM would rally in the second set after falling behind in the early stages of the set. Despite this, Minnesota Duluth would again rely on defensive ability to gain valuable points. The Bulldogs would tally another three blocks in the frame, providing some needed points when Minnesota Duluth needed it most. The Dragons would end up registering six attack errors in the frame as the Bulldogs won 25-18.Â
In the final set, MSUM would again tally six attack errors as the Bulldogs would block three more Dragon attacks. All-NSIC hitter Cianna Selbitschka would slam down 16 kills for the Bulldogs at a .355 hitting clip in the game as her offense proved necessary for Minnesota Duluth. The Bulldogs again commanded the set, winning 25-16.Â
