Dragons Survive the MSU Dome, Defeat Beavers 77-74

MINOT, N.D. -- A career-high 22 points from Logan Kinsey helped propel second-ranked MSU Moorhead men's basketball past Minot State on Saturday afternoon. The Dragons defeated the Beavers 77-74.

The win moves MSUM to 12-0 on the year, which equals their best start since the 2014-15 season.

How The Game Was Won
  • Minot State would command much of the first half thanks to some tremendous efficiency. The Beavers made 59.1 percent of their shot attempts in the half despite a two of seven mark from three-point range.
  • Despite the effective shooting, MSUM would make a still respectable 44.1 percent through 20 minutes and only trail by two points (36-34) at the break.
  • The Dragons made just four of 14 three-point attempts in the half, but would force eight Minot State turnovers in the frame.
  • MSUM would improve on their shooting marks in the second half, making six three-pointers on 12 attempts and shooting 48.6 percent from the floor in the half.
  • The Dragons also won the rebound battle 26-18 in the second half after a minus-six rebound clip in the first 20 minutes.
  • This included 12 offensive rebounds which led to 20 second chance points for the Dragons. In total, MSUM had 16 offensive rebounds in the contest.
  • Logan Kinsey paced the Dragons in the half, scoring 13 of his career-best 22 points in the final 20 minutes. Prior to today, Kinsey's career-high had been 14 points, which he has done on multiple occasions. The sophomore made 10 of 14 shot attempts in the win.
  • Jacob Beeninga was also a key cog for the Dragons, netting a pair of three-pointers for MSUM and scoring 19 points overall in the game.
  • MSUM's largest lead of the game was just six points midway through the second half. Minot State led by as many as five points early in the final half.
