Preview: Dragons Continue South Dakota Swing at Second PC Dome Tournament

MOORHEAD, Minn. -- MSU Moorhead softball will continue their South Dakota swing with a return trip to Aberdeen, S.D., for the second Presentation College Dome Tournament. The Dragons will play four games over Friday and Saturday.

The weekend begins for MSUM against the College of Saint Mary (Neb.) at 3 p.m. on Friday before the Dragons close the day with a 5:30 p.m. contest with Kansas Wesleyan. Saturday will see MSUM battle Dickinson State at 10 a.m. before completing the tournament against the University of Jamestown at 12:30 p.m.

The Dragons went a perfect 4-0 in the first PC Dome Tournament last weekend. MSUM defeated Valley City State, Morningside, Doane and Jamestown last weekend, outscoring those opponents 36-8 across the weekend. MSUM was led at the plate by freshman Mack Gallagher, who began her collegiate career in style. Gallagher finished the weekend batting .692 with three home runs and 10 RBIs. The Frankfort, Ill., native also scored four runs last weekend with a .733 on-base percentage and a whopping 1.385 slugging percentage.

Lizzy Davis and Eliya Johnson both had six hits over the four games in Aberdeen last weekend. Both student-athletes are batting .462 heading into this weekend with Davis stealing two bases on two attempts last weekend as well. Evey Evans had a huge Friday for MSUM last weekend, hitting two home runs, Evans finished the weekend with five RBIs. Evans was also valuable in the circle for the Dragons, pitching seven relief innings over four games, striking out five batters with a 1.00 ERA and a .231 opponent batting average.

Eliya Johnson and Reece Dahl each had strong starts in the circle for the Dragons last weekend. Johnson pitched five scoreless innings against Doane on Saturday, racking up five strikeouts. Johnson only allowed two hits to the Tigers with a .80 WHIP. Dahl pitched six and one-third innings over the weekend, striking out seven batters and only giving up four hits. Entering this weekend, Dahl bolsters a 2.21 ERA and a .182 opponent batting average.
