BURNSVILLE, Minn. -- After a stellar week to close the 2022-23 regular season, senior guard
Lorenzo McGhee has been named the NSIC North Player of Week. It is the first time this season a Dragon has been honored with the award.
McGhee began his week with a 21-point performance in MSUM's 57-55 win over Minot State. The senior netted his 1,000th career point in the win and his 21 points included a game-winner with 11 seconds remaining. McGhee also had four rebounds, a steal and shot 47.4 percent from the field in the game.Â
On Senior Day, McGhee continued his strong week, scoring 19 points to go along with five rebounds, four assists and two steals in an 86-76 win over Mary. The performance helped MSUM clinch the number two seed heading into the NSIC/Sanford Health Tournament. For the week, McGhee averaged 20 points per game, 4.5 rebounds and 1.5 steals all while shooting a scintillating 51.7 percent from the floor over two games.Â
The Dragons will open the NSIC/Sanford Health Tournament on Sunday, February 26 at 7 p.m. The quarterfinal game for the Dragons will either be against the University of Sioux Falls or St. Cloud State. That outcome will be determined tomorrow at 5:30 p.m.
