SARATOGA, Calif. -- MSUM's Monday contest with the Academy of Art has been officially canceled.
The Dragons led 3-1 in the top of the fifth inning before a campus lockdown occurred in which the game was delayed. The game, originally scheduled to take place on Academy of Arts' campus in San Francisco, was subsequently moved due to field conditions. Teams competed at West Valley Community College in Saratoga, Calif., where a campus lockdown occurred following reports of an armed intruder.
Following a roughly two hour search, police identified and apprehended two suspects who were carrying replica firearms. Campus was then re-opened, but classes and activities were canceled for the rest of the day. Thus, the Dragons and Urban Knights could not finish their game.
At the time of delay, MSUM was led by
Evey Evans, who led off the game with a home run and two singles to that point.
Brynna Farman started in the circle for the Dragons, pitching three strong innings, only allowing two hits and registering a strikeout.
MSUM will now look towards their doubleheader against Stanislaus State tomorrow beginning at 6 p.m. from Turlock, Calif.
