Rolle-Curry, Gregoire Rewrite Record Books Once Again at Bryan Clay Invitational

| By:
AZUSA, Calif. – Throughout the 2022-23 track & field season, one thing has continued to ring true: Robynn Rolle-Curry and Jared Gregoire know how to break records.

The junior Rolle-Curry set another program record on Saturday at the Bryan Clay Invitational, this time in the outdoor 400m with a dazzling 54.10 time. She breaks a mark that has stood since 1980. This comes a week after Rolle-Curry snapped the outdoor 200m record that had existed since 1979…

And oh, ho hum, Rolle-Curry broke that 200m record again on Saturday, running a 23.99 in the event. The mark she set last weekend in Vermillion was 24.05

Gregoire bested the MSUM school record in the 1500m on Saturday night by over one full second. The performances highlight the Dragon effort at the meet that has been running since Thursday.

To round out the MSUM contingent, Adnew Stueven and Braxton Bruer also competed at the meet. Bruer reset new personal bests in two events over the weekend.

Middle Distance/Distance

Adnew Stueven kicked off the meet for the Dragons in the 3000m steeplechase. Stueven, MSUM's school record holder in the event (9:00.64) improved on last week's time set at the USD Early Bird. The junior ran a 9:16.13 in the event which was over four seconds better than the 9:20.72 he clocked last weekend in Vermillion.

Braxton Bruer competed in the 800m on Friday evening, finishing with a time of 1:49.87. The time is an improvement from last week for Bruer, who ran a 1:49.90 in the same event at the USD Early Bird. The time on Friday becomes a new personal-best for the junior and is still the sixth-best time in Division II this year.

Jared Gregoire snapped the MSUM school record in the outdoor 1500m on Saturday evening. The freshman ran a 3:43.51 which surpasses Brady Speicher's record (3:44.63) set in 2016. Bruer also competed in the 1500m, running a 3:54.51 to reset his personal best by nearly five seconds

Sprints

Robynn Rolle-Curry only continued to do what she does best: break records. The junior ran a 54.10 in the 400m to conquer the MSUM school record of 55.36 which was set by Jane Schauer in 1980. Rolle-Curry finished ninth in the event with the time out of a possible 88 competitors. The time is also the 10th-fastest 400m time in Division II this season.

Rolle-Curry only continued to wow as she would go on to reset her own MSUM school record in the 200m later in the day. Her 23.99 time in Azusa is an improvement from the 24.05 she ran last week at the USD Early Bird and marks a new personal best.

Up Next

The Dragons gear up for a pair of meets in the Twin Cities this coming week. MSUM will compete at the M City Classic (hosted by the University of Minnesota) on Wednesday and will compete at the Holst Invitational (hosted by Concordia-St. Paul) on Saturday, April 22.
