MOORHEAD, Minn. -- The MSU Moorhead softball team will host* Southwest Minnesota State University at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. this Friday and host the University of Sioux Falls at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Saturday this weekend. The Dragons will then travel to Bismarck, N.D., to compete against the University of Mary at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. this Tuesday.
*With the presence of a winter storm throughout the Fargo-Moorhead area, the games against the Mustangs and Cougars will likely be moved to another location with amended start times. Any and all scheduling updates will be posted on msumdragons.com and MSUM's social media channels as soon as they become available.
The Dragons are 17-7 in the regular season and 5-1 against NSIC opponents after defeating Minnesota Crookston twice and splitting their doubleheader against Bemidji State last weekend. Freshman
Mack Gallagher leads the team with a batting average of .405, followed closely by sophomore
Avery Steffen with a batting average of .391. Gallagher also leads the team in home runs with eight, followed by junior
Evey Evans with five home runs. Gallagher is one home run away fromt tying the single-season school record for homers in a season. She also leads the team with 34 RBIs.
Mike Armitage is in his second season as head coach at Minnesota State University Moorhead.

The Mustangs are 6-17 on the regular season and 1-3 against NSIC opponents after falling to Winona State twice and splitting their doubleheader against Upper Iowa last week. Freshman Riley Kramolisch leads the team with a team-best batting average of .316, followed by junior Makenna Waldow with a batting average of .306. The Cougars are 12-13 on the regular season and 3-3 against NSIC opponents after splitting doubleheaders against Upper Iowa and Concordia-St. Paul. Junior Megan Lawson leads the team with a team-best batting average of .391, followed by sophomore Reese Holzhueter with a batting average of .388. Shannon Pivovar is in her sixth season as head coach at the University of Sioux Falls.
