About the Dragons
The Dragons (1-4-1, 0-1-1), are coming off of a 0-0 draw against the UMary Marauders last Sunday. With a strong defensive effort and a fantastic game by senior goalkeeper
Simone Lewald, the Dragons should be able to take a few positives from that game. Lewald made five saves for the Dragons, all proving critical to keep the game at a 0-0 scoreless tie. The Dragon defense was also able to withstand nine corner kicks from the Marauders throughout the game. Senior midfielder
Ava Kieser had two shots in the game, and she also went the distance, playing all 90 minutes.
Senior midfielder
Tabea Czech also had two shots, and had the only Dragon shot on goal in the game. Sophomore forward Jensen Siedel and senior midfielder
Madeline Etter also had one shot in the game. Leading the Dragons in minutes played so far this season is junior defender
Sara Alfrida Munk Nielsen. She has tallied 540 total minutes, which also means she hasn't missed a minute of game action in the six games so far.
The Dragons are coached by eighth year head coach
Christie Kopietz.
Scouting Concordia-St Paul
The Golden Bears (2-3-1, 0-1-1) will travel to Moorhead in search of their first conference win of the year. Their last matchup came against Minnesota State Mankato and they couldn't manage to find a goal as they lost 0-1. They still managed to get five shots on goal, however, none of them would find their way to the back netting.
Junior midfielder Sydney Manthana, senior midfielder Sophie Pawlyshyn, sophomore defender Belle Abruzzo, sophomore midfielder Clare Snapko and freshman midfielder Sophia Haase all had shots on goal. The Golden Bears spread the ball around a lot, so the Dragons will need to be alert at all times for any Golden Bears trying to sprint their way through the defense. Concordia, St Paul likes to split time at goalie with junior Jessie Jordan taking the majority of the reps, but sophomore Kayla Matuzak has also gotten time in goal as well.
The Golden Bears are coached by Steve Bellis.
Scouting Winona State
The Warriors (1-2-2, 0-1-1) have played some really tough competition so far this season. Winona State dropped their last game in a close fight to a really good Augustana team 2-1, and drawing their previous game in a scoreless tie against Concordia, St Paul. Sophomore defender Quinn Williams scored their goal against Augustana, and she also has three shots on goal. Junior defender Abigail Williams leads the Warriors in goals this season with two shots making it past the goalie. Junior defender Callie Menzel leads the Warriors in minutes played, playing all 450 minutes of the season thus far. Junior Goalkeeper Alyson Jumper has 21 saves, and a .808 save percentage on the year.
The Warriors are coached by Jill Leibforth.
