About the Dragons
The Dragons (1-5-2, 0-2-2 NSIC), showed flashes of brilliance in their game on Sunday against the Winona State Warriors. This was a very physical game that saw the momentum swing back and forth with four total goals scored. The game came down to the waning seconds, and ultimately, the Dragons and Warriors couldn't separate themselves from each other and the game ended in a 2-2 hard fought draw. Freshman forward
Izabela Flores was sprinting down the middle of the field after she received a great through ball from one of her teammates, and with only the goalkeeper to beat. The keeper sprinted out and took the ball right off of her foot, sending Flores tumbling. The whole match was very physical, with lots of individual battles that determined the outcome. The Dragons earned this draw, and it was one of their best performances so far this year. Senior midfielder
Madeline Etter scored her first career goal as a Dragon in the match, she was assisted by
Ava Kieser.
Sophomore
Ally Peters headed in a goal in the 34
th minute to give the Dragons a 2-1 lead at half. Winona would come back to draw, but that doesn't take anything away from MSUM's effort.
On the season, senior goalkeeper
Simone Lewald leads the Dragons with 42 saves, for a .857 save percentage. Sophomore forward
Jensen Seidel leads the Dragons in shots on goals this season with eight. Junior defender
Sara Alfrida Munk Nielsen, senior midfielder
Tabea Czech, senior defender
Jessica Carlson and senior defender
Mason Kimble continue to play a key role and give Dragon head coach
Christie Kopietz significant, high-quality minutes.
