ORLANDO, Fla. – MSU Moorhead tennis saw a loss and a win in a pair of matches as the Dragons continued their Spring Break trip on Tuesday and Wednesday.
MSUM fell in a late night Tuesday contest to seventh-ranked Lubbock Christian before turning around and defeating St. Catherine's, 5-2, on Wednesday morning.
The Dragons played a late Tuesday match with seventh-ranked Lubbock Christian which saw the Chaps take a 7-0 win. The pairing of
Luzmary Diaz Castillo and
Shaelyn Johnson would battle in number one doubles but would fall 7-5 to LCU's duo of Oshinia Herath and Anastasiia Opolska. The Chaps would take the remaining two doubles matches to earn the team point.
In singles play,
Tiannah Gu would rally from a 6-0 set one loss to push Herath to the limit in number two play. Gu would fall 6-4 in set two to conclude the matchup.
Madison Bell would narrowly drop her first set, 6-4, in number four action against Hannah Quick. Bell would drop the second set, 6-1.

St. Catherine's commanded the doubles point in the match as they would take wins at the number one and number two positions. However,
Katryna Hansen and
Claire Nemmers would pick up a win in number three doubles. The pair earned a 6-3 decision over Anna Luksik and Marie Pelletier.
MSUM would rally in singles action to take five of the six matches and the dual as a whole.
Luzmary Diaz Castillo would begin with a win at number one singles. Castillo would need a tiebreaker win in set one before winning set two, 6-4.
Shaelyn Johnson would earn a convincing win at the number two spot with a 6-1, 6-1 straight sets win over Luksik.
Tiannah Gu and
Madison Bell would each earn singles victories for the Dragons as Gu would win a 5-0 tiebreak to set the tone against Faith Simon. Gu would win the second set, 6-1. Bell would need three sets to earn a victory over Monica Zink. The senior would drop the first set in a tiebreaker before rallying back for a 6-2 win in the second set followed by a 10-8 clincher in the final set.
Nemmers would continue her strong effort with a win at number six singles. The sophomore would control most of her match with Liliana Holmberg, winning in straight sets, 6-3, 6-3.
