Final Road NSIC Matches On Deck for Dragon Tennis

MOORHEAD, Minn. -- MSU Moorhead tennis will play its final pair of regular season NSIC matches this weekend as the Dragons match up with Bemidji State and Minnesota Crookston. MSUM will take on the Beavers on Friday at 6:30 p.m. before playing the Golden Eagles at 9 a.m. on Saturday with both matches being played at the Mandan Tennis Center in Mandan, N.D.

The Dragons are coming off a tough pair of matchups against Sioux Falls and Augustana, both of which not going the Dragon's way. The Cougars defeated the Dragons 6-1 as the team of Madison Bell and Tiannah Gu earned a doubles win in the match. Gu earned the lone team point for MSUM in a straight sets win at number three singles. The nationally-ranked Vikings defeated the Dragons 7-0 on Saturday. 

Gu and senior Shaelyn Johnson lead the Dragons in overall singles wins this season with each earning seven victories so far this season. The doubles team of Johnson and Luzmary Diaz Castillo hold a team-best seven wins as a pairing this year. Bemidji State holds a 1-8 overall record this season with a 1-7 mark in NSIC competition. The Golden Eagles are 9-3 this season with a 4-3 ledger in conference play.
