MANDAN, N.D. – MSU Moorhead tennis earned its third conference win of the season on Friday evening as the Dragons commanded play against Bemidji State. MSUM earned a 6-1 NSIC victory in the process.
The Dragons would earn the doubles point with a pair of wins among the three matches. The team of
Luzmary Diaz Castillo and
Shaelyn Johnson would cruise to a win at the number one spot, winning 6-1. With the win, the pairing earned their eighth win of the season.
Claire Nemmers and
Katryna Hansen would seal the team point for MSUM at the number three spot. The duo earned a 7-6 win thanks to a grueling 7-3 tiebreaker victory and earned their fourth win of the year.
Madison Bell and
Tiannah Gu would narrowly fall in an 8-6 tiebreaker.
Singles play belonged to the Dragons as Diaz Castillo and Johnson collected straight set victories. For Johnson, it was her eighth singles win of the season in a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Valesca Rodriguez.
Tiannah Gu would match that in her eighth win at number three singles. Go would claim a straight sets win over Sophie Groen, 6-4, 6-4.
Katryna Hansen would fall in a three-set grinder to Emilia Sand before Bell and Nemmers closed singles play with a pair of wins. Bell controlled her match against Ibanez Castro, winning 6-1, 6-1. Nemmers grabbed her seventh singles win of the season in a 6-0, 7-5 win over Laura Burger.
