DES MOINES, Iowa – MSU Moorhead track & field had four competitors turn in solid marks to close Dragon competition at the annual Drake Relays.
Braxton Bruer and
Jared Gregoire would open competition for MSUM in the 800m run. Bruer would run a solid 1:49.53 to finish third overall and first amongst Division II competitors. The time is an NCAA provisional mark and a season best for the senior as the time is now the fifth-fastest in Division II this year. It is also the second fastest 800m of Bruer's career outside of his outdoor school record of 1:49.45, which he ran at last year's Drake Relays. Gregoire would finish 11
th in the same race with a time of 1:54.16.
Ibrahim Oduong would pick up action later in the day, clocking a season best 47.34 in the 400m dash. Oduong won his heat and finished third overall in a field of 23 athletes. The time is the second-fastest 400m of Oduong's career after his 47.31, which he ran last season. It builds on Oduong's NCAA provisional time and is the fastest 400m in the Northern Sun this year.
Wrapping up competition for the Dragons was
Ashley Hokanson in women's pole vault. Hokanson competed in the university/college champions section and was the lone Division II competitor. The senior turned in a strong performance, finishing seventh with a top clearance of 13-04.25 (4.07m). Hokanson cleared the first two flights of 12-10.25 (3.92m) and 13-04.25 (4.07m) in one attempt each. She would fail on three attempts at 13-08.25 (4.17m).
