MSUM Hosts Pair of Homecoming Matches with Wolves, Jimmies

| By:
MOORHEAD, Minn. -- Minnesota State Moorhead soccer is set to host a pair of matches over Homecoming weekend. The Dragons take on Northern State on Friday at 3 p.m. before hosting Jamestown on Sunday at 1 p.m.

Live stats and video will be available at msumdragons.com. Moorhead is coming off a 1-1 weekend of results in a pair of NSIC road contests after defeating Southwest Minnesota State and falling to Sioux Falls.

First Time For Everything...Redshirt senior forward Brooklyn Broderick netted her first career goal as a member of the Dragons in Friday's 3-2 win over Southwest Minnesota State. As a junior in 2023, Broderick led MSUM in total shots on goal (15) before missing the entire 2024 season due to injury. Against the Mustangs, Broderick would fire off three shots on goal in four attempts with one finding the net. This season, Broderick is tied for the team lead with six shots on goal in 358 minutes played.

From The Corner?...Sophomore Madalynn Hopkins showcased her prowess for the net in the victory over Southwest Minnesota State. Hopkins was afforded a corner kick try in the first half and opted not to design a set piece, but rather take matters into her own hands. Hopkins fired a dazzling ball that curved inward and landed in the left side of the net. The miraculous corner kick goal was Hopkins' first of the season.

Speed Kills...True freshman Ana Cecilia Walker has been a sparkplug for the Dragons so far this season, using her speed to create space on offense. In MSUM's win over Southwest Minnesota State, Walker was able to poke a ball loose from a Mustang defender, ultimately taking off and creating a breakaway opportunity. Walker did not waste the chance either, as she would net her second goal of the season, which turned into the game-winner. The Brooklyn Park, Minn., native leads the Dragons with her two goals, all in just 268 minutes played.

She's A Facilitator...Midfielder Mary Cox has been exceptional in seven matches so far this season for Moorhead. Cox earned her second career point in Friday's win over the Mustangs, assisting on Broderick's aforementioned goal. So far this season, Cox leads the Dragons with 11 total shots with three being registered on net to go along with two assists in 571 minutes.

Trusting Truslow...Senior goalkeeper Rylee Truslow has seen the majority of minutes in net for the Dragons as they head into Homecoming weekend. Against Sioux Falls on Sunday, Truslow made 11 saves, the second-highest tally of her MSUM career. Truslow currently leads the roster with 32 total saves and a .780 save percentage. The Nellysford, Va., native also has a clean sheet on her ledger in 2025.

Scott Forster is in his second season as MSUM's head soccer coach.
