JAMESTOWN, N.D. – Minnesota State Moorhead wrestling began the 2025-26 season on Sunday at the Jimmie Open. True freshman 157-pounder
Gunner Hostetter was a place winner for the Dragons.
The freshman would begin the tournament with a technical fall victory over Bismarck State's Izac Turner. Hostetter would rack up points at will, claiming the match by a 15-0 count. The Saint Francis, Minn., native would qualify for the 157-pound semifinals following a medical forfeit in the quarterfinals. Hostetter would earn sixth-place marks in the weight class.
Wyatt Powell would add a pair of wins to his ledger on Sunday, defeating Bismarck State's Ashton Zimney via fall at 1:30. Powell would also defeat 197-pound teammate
Kish Eberline by major decision, 9-1.
Sophomore
Edon Davis would see a strong start to the season at 165 pounds, collecting a pair of wins. Davis opened his morning by pinning Minot State's John Armstrong at 3:56 before sticking Bismarck State's Colton King at 1:53.
Damon Ferguson also collected a win for MSUM on Sunday, pinning the aforementioned King at 6:17.
Isaiah Wright earned a victory in the heavyweight division, grabbing a 5-3 decision over Bismarck State's Isaiah Horan.
