Dragons Escape Romano, Win Fifth Straight Game

DULUTH, Minn. -- MSU Moorhead men's basketball saw a balanced effort on Friday night in NSIC action. The Dragons escaped Romano Gymnasium with a 68-67 win over Minnesota Duluth. 

Inside The Game
  • The Dragons would lead 5-0 early in a low-scoring first half, eventually leading 15-13 midway through the first period. 
  • Logan Kinsey led MSUM in the stretch with five points.
  • Back-to-back baskets from Jacob Jennissen and Eddie Beeninga put the Dragons up, 26-22. 
  • Minnesota Duluth would lead by three points late in the half before Beeninga drilled his second three of the half to tie the game at 34 points. 
  • The teams would go back and forth early in the second half before the Bulldogs took a one-point lead with 12 minutes to play.
  • A long range shot from Shaun Wysocki put MSUM back up, 51-49. The Dragons would lead by as many as five points after a three from Carson Johnson and a basket from a returning Jacob Beeninga
  • After a make from Jennissen, MSUM led by six points with less than three minutes to go. 
  • Neither team would score in the final 1:50 of play as the Dragons led 68-67. 
  • Minnesota Duluth would have six chances to win the game down the stretch, including four in the waning seconds, but would not convert. 
  • Jennissen led the Dragons with 14 points and 12 rebounds in the win.
