Bears Down: Dragons Upend #24 CSP for Sixth Straight Win

ST. PAUL, Minn. – MSU Moorhead men's basketball earned a hard-fought win in NSIC play on Saturday afternoon. The Dragons upended 24th-ranked Concordia, St. Paul, 92-85.
 
Inside The Game
 
  • MSUM would race out of the gate, using a 10-0 run to start the game. Carson Johnson scored four of MSUM's first 10 points. 
  • The Dragons would lead by as many as 12 points in the first half and would not trail through 20 minutes. 
  • Concordia, St. Paul would come to within six points before the halftime, but MSUM would hold the Golden Bears scoreless for the final two minutes of play. 
  • Johnson paced the Dragons all half, scoring 21 points on nine of 12 shooting from the floor, including three of four from three-point range. 
  • Logan Kinsey would add nine points while Jacob Beeninga put in seven points on three of four shooting. 
  • MSUM shot an impressive 59.4 percent from the field in the first half.
  • The Dragons would retain an eight-point lead five minutes into the second half after a dunk from Jacob Jennissen.
  • As the Golden Bears pulled to within one possession, Beeninga and Johnson combined for five straight points to put MSUM back up by eight points midway through the second half.
  • With five minutes to go in the contest, MSUM led 78-70 as Jennissen was seemingly unstoppable down low. 
  • Throughout the remainder of the game, CSP would only come as close as five points with just over a minute to play. 
  • MSUM would win 92-85 behind 24 points from Johnson and 22 points from Beeninga. The senior scored 15 points in the second half and shot 9-12 from the floor for the game. 
  • In total, five Dragons scored in double figures.
