WEST FARGO, N.D. – MSU Moorhead swimming & diving saw swift swims and excellent finishes on day three of the NSIC Championships.
After day three, MSUM is in sixth place in team scoring with 262 points.
Cami Mayo would start the morning off for the Dragons in the 500-yard freestyle, marking a 5:20.65.
Taylor Cook would swim a 5:36.60 in the same preliminary and served as an alternate in the final session.
In the 100-yard backstroke,
Demi-Lee Carlisle would lead the Dragons, qualifying for the B-final behind a time of 58.94.
Kelsey Jackson (59.27) would also qualify for the C-final in the same event. Carlisle would clock a faster finals time of 58.52 to finish sixth in the B-final.
Rose Urick would turn in another strong performance in the 100-yard breaststroke, setting a personal best of 1:0664 to make the B-final cut. The time for Urick comes in as the seventh-fastest time in MSUM history.
Linnea Edgren (1:13.08) would serve as an alternate in the final session of the same event as well. Urick would clock a faster finals time of 1:06.45 to place sixth in the B-final, which still sits in seventh all-time.
To conclude the morning in the 200-yard fly,
Fernanda Leon would place second in the preliminary heats with a mark of 2:06.64. Leon would qualify for the A-final with the time was narrowly off Leon's season best of 2:06.47.
Ruth Pavelski would compete in the same event preliminaries with a time of 2:26.75.
Leon would narrowly miss All-NSIC distinction in the A-final, marking a 2:06.97 finals time. The true freshman was .06 seconds off an all-conference finish.
In the final event of the evening, MSUM's team of Carlisle, Pavelski,
Maggie Moore and
Sophia Verke would collect a fifth-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay. The squad clocked a 1:36.79 time, which is fifth-fastest in program history. The Dragon team of Edgren,
Lacie Stark,
Lily Lengerich and
Joanna Phillips would place fourth in the B-final with season best time of 1:41.26.
The NSIC Swimming & Diving Championships continue at 10 a.m. tomorrow.
