MSUM Closes Dome Invitational Stint

ROSEMONT, Ill. – MSU Moorhead softball concluded the 2025 Dome Inviational on Saturday afternoon with two losses.

MSUM fell 3-2 to Parkside to open the day before closing the tournament in a 8-0 loss to Truman State in five innings.

Game One

MSUM would start fast in the first inning after Avery Steffen led off the game with a single, eventually scoring after a single from Natalie Gonzalez. In the circle, Teagan Clemmons would limit the Rangers without a hit in the first two innings. The Dragons would add to their lead in the top of the third inning as Teagan Pranchke would single with one out. Pranchke would score after a single from Clemmons, putting MSUM up, 2-0.

The Rangers would get to Clemmons in the home half, plating a pair of runs on one hit and a Dragon error. MSUM would have a chance to regain the lead in the fifth inning as Hailey Thurber would find base on a walk before stealing second. However, MSUM would not bring her around with Parkside moving in front in the home half after a solo home run. The Dragons had one more effort in the top of the seventh as Eliya Johnson would give MSUM some life with a leadoff single. Johnson moved to second on a steal and would move to third with one out.

Unfortunately for the Dragons, Parkside would get out of the inning after a strikeout and a ground out to claim a 3-2 win. Clemmons twirled a complete game with eight strikeouts for the Dragons.

Game Two

Truman State would almost immediately jump in front in the bottom of the first inning, scoring two runs on three hits. MSUM would be held in check throughout the contest with the Bulldogs scoring another run in the second frame. By the fourth inning, Truman State had extended its lead to seven runs as the Dragons were still left without a hit. In the top of the fifth inning, Jessie Henry would grab the lone Dragon hit in the game on a double. Truman State would put an end to the contest in the home half to win 8-0 in five frames.
