Roberts, Peraza Look Towards NCAA Indoor Championships

MOORHEAD, Minn. -- MSU Moorhead juniors Shavantae Roberts and Jaiden Peraza are set to compete in the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships this week in Indianapolis, Ind. Competition begins on Thursday and is scheduled to wrap on Saturday.

Roberts is set to compete in the women's 60m dash preliminaries on Thursday afternoon beginning at 3:15 p.m. The junior enters the national championships with the 15th-fastest 60m time in NCAA Division II this season. Roberts marked a 7.42 at the NSIC Indoor Track & Field Championships, a personal best and new school record.  The Abaco, Bahamas, native previously set the MSUM school record in the event, marking a 7.44 in the first indoor meet of the season. 

Peraza will compete in men's high jump, which is scheduled to take place on Friday beginning at 1 p.m. The junior is currently ranked 11th in NCAA Division II in the event behind a personal best clearance of 7-0.25 (2.14m). The mark makes Peraza only the second man in MSUM history to clear seven feet or higher in the indoor high jump. Peraza is fresh off an NSIC championship performance in the event as well, marking a 6-09.5 (2.07m) to capture the title.
