SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – MSU Moorhead softball earned a two-game split on Saturday at the Drury Softball Classic.
MSUM dropped the first game of the day to host Drury in eight innings, 7-6. To close the day, the Dragons topped Newman University, 7-6.
Game One

Game Two
Newman would strike first in the top of the first inning, scoring a run to lead, 1-0. However, MSUM would respond in the home half as Steffen led off with a single, before stealing second base.
Annika Norman would drive Steffen home on a single to knot the game at one run each.
MSUM's offense would only continue into the second frame as
Eliya Johnson would get to third base following a leadoff walk.
Lexie Wilson would eventually drive Johnson in on an RBI single. Steffen would later drive home a run on a single of her own. Dragon starter
Teagan Clemmons would keep Newman scoreless in the third, setting the Jets down in order.
Newman would tie the game in the fourth inning and the squads would stay gridlocked up until the sixth inning.
Natalie Gonzalez would double to leadoff the frame before pinch runner
Lacey Camden scored on a passed ball. Johnson would showcase her power later in the inning with a solo shot to centerfield. MSUM would lead 5-3 heading into the top half, which saw Newman tie the game again after scoring two runs.
Neither team would plate a run in the seventh inning, leading to extra frames for the Dragons. While Newman would score a run in the top of the eighth, MSUM would still have a chance in the home half.
Jessie Henry would start the frame on second base, eventually scoring after a single from Camden, which tied the game. Camden would score the winning run on an error to provide MSUM a 7-6 win in extra innings.
Clemmons pitched a complete game for the Dragons, fanning eight Newman batters.
