DULUTH, Minn. – MSU Moorhead tennis secured an NSIC win on Saturday evening against Minnesota Duluth. The Dragons defeated the Bulldogs, 7-0.
MSUM would sweep through doubles play with the number one team of
Luzmary Diaz Castillo and
Shaelyn Johnson winning 6-1 to earn their 12th win of the year.
Tiannah Gu and
Sophia Felderman would grab their sixth win on the season by the same score, 6-1. The pairing of
Katryna Hansen and
Claire Nemmers were tested by Carley Chaney and Olivia Honsey, but eventually claimed a 7-5 victory.
Johnson would move to 9-10 in singles action behind a straight sets (6-1, 6-2) win over Luana de Silva. Diaz Castillo would continue her strong singles campaign, winning 6-1, 6-0 for her 13th win of the year. The junior remains perfect in NSIC play this season, moving her record to 4-0. At number three singles, Hansen would score a straight sets win over Olivia Gorton, 6-1, 6-0. The freshman Felderman earned her 10th victory of the season in straight sets over Olivia Honsey, 6-2, 6-2.
To round out the Dragon sweep,
Tiannah Gu would look sharp again in the number five spot, defeating Lily Nelson, 6-1, 6-2. The win is Gu's 12th of the season, having won six of her last seven matches. Nemmers would secure a 6-3, 6-3 win at the number six spot to solidify MSUM's ninth match win of the day.
