MOORHEAD, Minn. -- MSU Moorhead softball is scheduled to host three NSIC doubleheaders this week beginning with a neutral site matchup with Mary on Thursday at 10 a.m. MSUM will then host Sioux Falls on Saturday and Wayne State on Sunday to close out the weekend.
Live video and stats will be available at msumdragons.com. Please note that the games against the Marauders were moved from Tuesday to Thursday with the games now being played in the Nelson Family Bubble in Jamestown, N.D. The week's remaining games will be played in Moorhead as of this writing.
MSUM went 2-4 in NSIC games last weekend, earning a two-game sweep of Northern State on Wednesday. The Dragons would drop doubleheaders to Winona State and Concordia, St. Paul to wrap up the week.
Senior
Annika Norman has led the Dragon efforts at the plate so far this season, hitting for a .366 average with 41 total hits and a team-best 20 RBIs. Norman was superb last Wednesday against Northern State, scoring six hits in 10 at-bats, including the eventual game-winning hit in the top of the eighth inning. Fellow senior
Avery Steffen leads the Dragons with 44 hits overall this season at a .358 average with 12 RBIs and eight doubles. Steffen has also been strong on the bases for MSUM, stealing a team-high 19 bases in 23 attempts. Junior
Teagan Pranchke has also been strong at the plate for MSUM as she holds a .316 average heading into the week with 25 total hits. Senior
Eliya Johnson leads the Dragons with three home runs so far this season to go along with 17 RBIs.
In the circle, Steffen has pitched 65 innings for the Dragons with a team-high 68 strikeouts as the senior has held opponents to a .288 rate at the dish. Sophomore
Teagan Clemmons has been the MSUM workhorse this season, slinging 70.1 innings for a 4.68 ERA and 60 strikeouts. Johnson,
Brynna Farman,
Bella Hess and
Isabel Rodriguez have all seen substantial time in the pitching circle for MSUM as well this season.
Four Dragons continue to hold perfect 1.000 fielding percentages this season in Hess, Farman, Rodriguez and
Kayla Kraft. As a team, MSUM holds a .946 fielding percentage for the season.
