Dragons Play Final Road Games Against Huskies, Bulldogs

| By:
MOORHEAD, Minn. -- MSU Moorhead softball is set to wrap up their road schedule this weekend as the Dragons head to St. Cloud State for a Friday doubleheader against the Huskies at 12 p.m. MSUM will play a doubleheader with Minnesota Duluth the following day at noon.

Live video and stats will be available at msumdragons.com. MSUM will look to snap a four-game skid on Friday after falling in doubleheaders to Minot State and Southwest Minnesota State last week.

Senior Avery Steffen is currently turning in a history-making season for the Dragons. The Zumbrota, Minn., native leads the roster with a .394 batting average with a total of 61 hits. The single-season school record stands at 65 hits (Leah Davis, 2004) as Steffen is also two triples shy of breaking that single-season school record (Jill Knisley, 1994). Additionally, Steffen has already broken the program's single-season record for stolen bases (23) and is two runs (scored) short of the single-season record (Alicia Nelson, 2004). Steffen has driven in 14 runs at the plate so far this season and bolsters a .574 slugging percentage.

Fellow senior Annika Norman has also been strong at the plate for the Dragons, hitting for a .343 average with 49 hits and a team-best 21 RBIs. Eliya Johnson is tied with Norman for the team lead in RBIs while also bolstering a team-best four home runs.

Teagan Clemmons has led the MSUM pitching staff so far this season, slinging 93.2 innings for a 4.04 ERA and a team-best 88 strikeouts. Clemmons has held batters to a .296 average while also only allowing 30 walks this season. Steffen has pitched 73 innings for MSUM with 77 strikeouts, limiting hitters to a .272 average. Junior Brynna Farman has seen an uptick in her time in the circle as well, twirling 44.2 innings with 39 strikeouts and a save. MSUM will also rotate in Isabel Rodriguez (21.1 IP), Eliya Johnson (20.2 IP) and Bella Hess (37.2 IP).

In the field, Hess, Rodriguez and Kayla Kraft all hold 1.000 fielding percentages while the Dragons hold a collective mark of .943.

Vanessa Kellems is in her first season as MSUM's head softball coach.
