MOORHEAD, Minn. -- MSU Moorhead tennis will play its final two home matches of the 2024-25 season this weekend against Sioux Falls and Augustana. The Dragons take on the Cougars at 3:30 p.m. on Friday before taking on the Vikings at 9 a.m. on Saturday. 

Live video will be available at msumdragons.com. Both matches will be played at Court Plus Community Fitness in Fargo, N.D. The Dragons last competed a week ago where they collected two NSIC victories over Minnesota Duluth (7-0) and St. Cloud State (4-3). 

Shaelyn Johnson paced play for the Dragons last weekend, going a perfect 2-0 in singles and 2-0 in doubles alongside partner Luzmary Diaz Castillo. The graduate student offers up a 10-10 singles record this season while her and Diaz Castillo showcase an impressive 13-5 doubles mark. In total, Johnson and Diaz Castillo have won eight of their last nine matches and sit two wins shy of the single-season school record held by Emma Anderson and Julia Geske (2019). 

Diaz Castillo and fellow junior Tiannah Gu lead the Dragons in singles play this season, having each earned 13 wins so far this year. Diaz Castillo is currently unblemished in NSIC singles competition while Gu features a 4-1 mark in conference matches. Both have a chance to rewrite the school record books as they sit three wins shy of the single-season record held by head coach Alexis Konecne. Gu enters the weekend with 34 career wins, which is six shy of the school record held by the aforementioned Geske (40). 

Freshman Sophia Felderman is the fourth Dragon this season to eclipse the 10-win mark, collecting her 10th against Minnesota Duluth last weekend. In total, MSUM has 58 singles wins this season, which marks the most since the 2019 season (78). The Dragons also offer up 29 total doubles wins so far this season.
