Avery Steffen has been named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-Central Region Second Team. Steffen becomes the second player in program history to earn NFCA All-Region distinction.
The awards honor softball student-athletes from the Association's eight regions with first and second-team selections. NFCA member head coaches from each respective region nominated their student-athletes and voted for the teams. All the honorees are now eligible for selection to the 2025 NFCA Division II All-America squads.
Steffen was nothing short of iconic in her senior campaign, slicing a .399 batting average on the season, a clip that was the fifth-best in the Northern Sun. Additionally, Steffen was troublesome in league play, marking a .422 average in NSIC games alone. In total, Steffen finished the season with 75 hits, a new single-season school record with the count being the fourth-most in the conference in 2025. By year's end, Steffen turned in 24 multi-hit performances as well. The Zumbrota, Minn., native had a slugging percentage of .574 on the year to go along with a .433 on-base mark, which included nine doubles, nine triples, two home runs and 16 RBIs. Steffen's nine triples in 2025 became a new single-season school record as well.
The senior was also downright lethal on the basepaths, setting MSUM single-season school records in stolen bases (30) and runs scored (50) over the course of the season. In the field, Steffen held a .945 fielding percentage with 66 total putouts, primarily in centerfield. Steffen was also a valuable arm in the circle for MSUM in 2025, slinging 86.1 innings and collecting five wins and three saves. On the year, Steffen struck out 84 batters and held opponents to a .275 batting average.
