MSUM NAMED 2024-25 NACMA MARKETING TEAM OF THE YEAR AFTER WINNING 16 "BEST OF" AWARDS
The National Association of Collegiate Marketing Administrators (NACMA) announced at its recent convention that Virgnia Tech (Group 1), University of Montana (Group 2) and Minnesota State University Moorhead (Group 3) as its 2025 Marketing Team of the Year Award (MTOY) recipients, presented by PrestoSports.
"NACMA congratulates the outstanding staff at Virginia Tech, the University of Montana, and Minnesota State University Moorhead for their exceptional work during the 2024-25 year. We're proud to recognize them as the Marketing Teams of the Year in Groups 1, 2, and 3, respectively," said Markeisha Everett, NACMA President. "The Best of Awards—and specifically the Marketing Team of the Year program—shine a spotlight on the incredible work being done at institutions of all sizes. This recognition fosters more equitable benchmarks for success and aligns with NACMA's core pillars: Revenue Generation, Brand Management, and Fan Development."
The chart of results for the 'Best Of' Awards' can be found HERE. Submissions that earned Gold, Silver and Bronze in the Revenue Generation, Brand Management and Fan Development categories were given five points, three points and one point, respectively. Submissions that earned Gold, Silver and Bronze in the Best in Class categories were given nine points, six points and three points, respectively. The institutions in Groups I, II and III with the most total points earned were named Marketing Teams of the Year.
The Marketing Team of the Year Award was created by NACMA to show the significant impact a marketing team has not only on the athletics department, but the campus and surrounding community.

Later in the convention, the College Sports Communicators (CSC) also announced 12 awards and recognitions to MSUM for their Digital Design Contest.
Jon Wepking, MSUM's associate athletics director for external relations, was present to receive Marketing Team of the Year Award saying, "This is what happens when you believe in students. I'm overwhelmed with gratitude for the over 60 students who are a part of the GO! TEAM sports internship program. They are simply incredible. We owe a huge thanks to the alumni who built the foundation for this success. And a massive thank you to our seniors who left their mark on this program forever. Thank you to the reason we have jobs, the student-athletes, who trusted us and gave us access to cover this time in their lives. Thank you to our colleagues at MSUM, the Tech Fee Committee, and of course our sponsors, donors, and fans for making this possible."
Notably, Lukas Heydt was the sixth in the Collegiate Division and third in the Best Of DII category for Design Portfolio of the Year. Also in Design Portfolio of the year, Becca Hanson earned eighth place honors in the Collegiate Division and placed fifth in the Best Of DII category.
2024-25 NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF COLLEGIATE MARKETING ADMINISTRATORS AWARDS - FULL GO! TEAM AWARDS HISTORY
The National Association of Collegiate Marketing Administrators (NACMA) has selected its 2024-25 "Best Of" award winners who were announced to the membership during the NACMA Convention on June 9th. Initiated in 2003, the NACMA "Best Of" Awards program, sponsored by Old Hat Creative, honors outstanding achievement in marketing and promotions. Awards are presented in 20 categories, with each category divided into three groups based upon school size and conference affiliations to promote fairness. Group I is NCAA Division I FBS institutions, Group II is Division I FCS institutions, and Group III is all DII, DIII, NAIA, and Junior Colleges. The Marketing Team of the Year Award for Group III began in 2023.

Designer and Photographer of the Year winners announced live at #CSCUnite24
ORLANDO, Fla. — The College Sports Communicators Creative & Digital Design Contest announced its contest winners and full list of results for the 2024-25 edition of the contest Wednesday afternoon following the Special Awards Luncheon on the final day of #CSCUnite25 at the Orlando World Center Marriott Resort.
"The Creative & Digital Design contest continues to showcase the immeasurable talent of the CSC membership in the creative space as we recognize the best in our industry through a wide variety of contest categories as judged by their peers," said committee chair Patrick Murphy of the Colorado School of Mines. "On behalf of myself, vice chair Malloreigh Yingling, contest administrators Andy DeVito, Amanda Phillips and Donnie Smith, along with Executive Board Liaison Matt Panto and CSC Director of Communications and Brand Strategy Beau White, I would like to congratulate all of our winners of the 2024-25 CSC Creative & Digital Design Contest."
The 2024-25 contest set records for the second year in a row with a 33.5% participation increase from the previous year and tallying 2,160 total entries, including 930 entries from the University Division and 1,230 entries from the College Division. A total of nine contest categories saw increased participation year over year, while the Portfolio Contests saw an enormous increase with 173 total entries along with the addition of two more contests. Over the last two editions of the contest, participation has skyrocketed more than 125% overall from 957 entries in 2023-24.
Finalists for the Designer, Photographer and Videographer of the Year Contests were honored Wednesday at the Special Awards Luncheon with two contest winners in attendance as Lynchburg's Micah Adams and Wayne State's Zack Belsky were named Videographer of the Year and Designer of the Year respectively in the College Division.
More than 250 institutions and conference offices were among the participants this year, with more than 650 total individuals having been named on an entry. A total of 435 places were recognized in the overall contest results while 307 entries garnered "Best Of" honors for each level in the College Division. 930 entries made up the 17 contests in the University Division composed exclusively of Division I institutions. The College Division was headlined by Division II with 571 total entries followed by Division II with 447, the NAIA with 170, Canadian Institutions with 17, two-year colleges with 16 and high schools with nine.
A total of 123 different institutions and league offices were among those recognized along with 229 individuals who either submitted solo entries or collaborations from their communications and creative staffs.
The number of places awarded for each contest was determined by the number of entries in each category. For the College Division, "Best Of" honors were bestowed upon the top finishers from each subdivision also based on the number of entries received.
"I would like to thank each and every one of our nearly 90 contest reviewers who served either a coordinator or a judge," Murphy added. "Without them, conducting this contest would not be possible, and I am truly grateful for their time, dedication and effort. I am especially thankful for our incredible partners and support team at RhythmQ for helping us implement a new system this year and for all their time, patience and assistance in answering our questions and getting us up and running with the submission and review system."
